Chachacual Bay
If you’re looking to connect with nature, Bahía Chachacual is perfect for you! This bay is known for its vast ecological reserve, Huatulco National Park, where you can admire extensive mangrove areas, lush vegetation, and unique plant species.
It’s essential to know that this bay boasts two unspoiled beaches with crystal-clear waters: Chachacual and La India. Trust us, you’ll be enchanted when you see them. Just keep in mind that you can only access this bay by boat, so don’t forget to pack everything you’ll need for the day.
How to Get There
The only way to reach Chachacual is by crossing the sea, which is why we recommend you book a tour or a boat ride from Santa Cruz Bay.
Cacaluta Bay
Cacaluta Bay has served as the backdrop for several ads and movies, including Alfonso Cuarón’s iconic film “Y tu Mamá También.” If you’re a fan of striking a pose for the camera or putting your artistic skills to the test, you can capture the best photos of Huatulco here.
You will also find a lagoon known as El Zanate, which gets its name from a type of mangrove with roots that grow all around it. It’s worth noting that every year, this bay welcomes various migratory birds, making your visit even more special.
And if you simply want to make the most of the beach, remember that this place has two: Cacaluta Beach and Arroyo Beach.
How to Get There
To explore this beautiful spot, there are two transportation options. The first is by crossing the sea from Santa Cruz Bay, and the second one is by taking a dirt road until you reach Huatulco National Park. There’s no direct access, but you can take a hike and then freshen up with a swim.
Organo and Maguey Bays
These two bays are practically connected, and this unique feature forms beautiful beaches with crystal-clear waters, white sand, and gentle waves. It’s worth noting that this place has an area with several palapas serving local cuisine.
If you want to try out the variety of water sports that Huatulco has to offer, this is the safest place to do it. But if you simply want to relax in the green and blue-hued waters, you can do that as well.
How to Get There
To find these bays, head 1.8 miles south of Santa Cruz Bay, following the highway to La Entrega Beach. Follow the signs, and you’ll arrive at two of the most beautiful bays in Huatulco
Santa Cruz Bay
This bay is known as the main destination in Huatulco thanks to its pier, where most tours around Huatulco’s bays depart from. Here, you can enjoy some of Huatulco’s beaches, such as La Entrega, La Yerbabuena, and Punta Santa Cruz.
Make the most of your time in this bay and splash in the clear, tranquil water with your kids. Lastly, don’t forget to ask about the legend of the Santa Cruz de Huatulco, which was born on this historic beach.
How To Get There
Easy access makes this the starting point for visiting other bays. From downtown Huatulco, take Chahue Boulevard with the Boulevard Benito Juárez detour, and then the highway to the Bahías exit. Five minutes later, you will be in Santa Cruz.
San Agustín Bay
This bay is located at the western end of Huatulco, making it the last of the nine bays. As the most remote one, San Agustín Bay in Huatulco is perfect for snorkeling and diving, as one of its main features is having one of the largest coral reefs in the Pacific Ocean.
This beautiful place is the largest of all the bays in Huatulco, and here you’ll find two breathtaking beaches: San Agustín Beach and Cacalutilla Beach.
How to Get There
Take federal highway 200, and just before reaching the junction with Santa María Huatulco, turn onto a dirt road that will guide you to this bay. The easiest way to get there is by car or taxi.
Chahué Bay
The name Chahué comes from the Zapotec and means “fertile land” or “damp land”’ This place offers several amenities such as restaurants, nightclubs, shopping malls, and much more. Plan your trip in advance and visit during the traditional Music for the Earth (Música para la Tierra) festival. At this celebration, you can enjoy various pop and rock music performances.
How to Get There
First, arrive at Crucecita or Santa Cruz, and then, you’ll find this bay just 0.6 miles away. If you’re driving, head towards the Tagolunda hotel area to get there. The journey takes approximately five minutes. You can also take a local taxi.
Tangolunda Bay
Tangolunda is another one of the main bays in Huatulco. Its name comes from the Zapotec language and means “beautiful woman.” Here, you can find major hotel chains, shopping malls, golf courses, and more optins to make your vacation truly unforgettable.
You can also enjoy various water sports here, such as sailing, kayaking, sport fishing, scuba diving, and much more. It’s worth noting that this bay has five beaches where you can have fun: Ventura, Manzanillo, Tornillo, Tangolunda, and Rincón Sabroso.
How to Get There
Start from downtown Santa Cruz and take Boulevard Benito Juárez, following the signs towards Conejos Bay. Follow the signs and enjoy one of the best beaches in Oaxaca.
Conejos Bay
Conejos Bay boasts four beautiful beaches: Punta Arena, Conejos, Magueyito, and Tejoncito. At all of these, you can enjoy horseback riding tours and other activities such as diving, fishing, and swimming. The weather is nearly perfect, with around 320 days of sunshine each year. It’s also good to know that you can reach this bay via the Pan-American Highway from Acapulco to Salina Cruz.
How to Get There
The bay is located approximately five miles from downtown of Huatulco, which is about a 15-minute drive along the road that leads to Barra de Copalita. It’s on the left side of Tangolunda.
Riscalillo Bay
Finally, if you’re looking for a peaceful place to relax and unwind, Riscalillo Bay is your best choice. Only a single beach makes up this bay, offering white sand, green and blue waters, shallow depths, and a wide variety of wildlife. Don’t miss the opportunity to have a tranquil vacation here.

Riscalillo Bay is located in the Huatulco National Park, so access is relatively easy. Take a shared taxi or public transportation from Crucecita or Plaza El Madero, and you’ll arrive in approximately 10 minutes.
